WELCOME! SO
having been a regular attendee at the Robert Schuller Protestant Crystal
Cathedral...it just so happened at the same time the Crystal Cathedral was
declining I was in the midst of a semi-conversion or "merger' with the
Catholic Church, attending numerous Catholic congregations around southern
California (& beyond) for many years, including St. Callistus (down the
street from the Crystal-Christ Cathedral). So when the big switch happened I
felt like I was "the middle man" who just happened to be in the right
place at the right time...maybe God's providence..and I searched for an answer
to why this was happening...some feelings were sadness given my connection to
Robert H. Schuller and the Reformed church and the Dutch heritage..and my
family's connections to the Crystal & the elder Schuller, even all the way
back to Iowa where our family has roots & heritage as well (and where I was
actually born)...yet at the same time I was seeing the way things were
transpiring at the Crystal Cathedral...some not so edifying..identity politics
..people making "power moves"...pushing their way in..trying to push
others out..not so nice in some regards..but still when R.H Schuller preached
with the doors wide open it was always inspiring and something to behold. SO
WHY would God allow such a seemingly good thing come to an end (well..Bobby
will remind us that the Hour of Power lives on at the new location, but let's
be honest, something authentic came to an end..the FOUNDER's ministry is ALWAYS
the most dynamic and most inspiring...those who carry on the legacy have their
place but they are never the same real deal as the original...)...so I searched
and asked God and finally I realized a "Kernel of wheat must die..."
(John 12.24) ...in order for
new plants to be born and thrive. And so I now think & believe that the
Crystal Cathedral is the kernel of wheat that has died in order for new things
to happen, to be born, to thrive...in the form of the Catholic Christ Cathedral
(as well as the
"new evangelization" ...the catholic church is in the process of
training & encouraging & inspirating catholic church members to become
MORE evangelical...maybe even charismatic..in reaching others..that is a GOOD
FRUIT...! And the OC Diocese is bringing in various ministries to maintain
their office headquarters at the Christ Cathedral, and the list goes on...so I
am hoping & praying that out of what seems like something bad or sad (end
of Crystal Cathedral) we will see something even good, great,...maybe even
"better" in the long run (better for the kingdom of God, not in
the secular sense of competition). And I will be posting links & updates to
what the new Crystal Christ Cathedral is doing "for the kingdom" and
will be praying along with a LOT of you that this will be something awesome and
great not just for Orange County but for the whole wide world, God willing !
